Adam Watling
Psychotherapist
I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Based in York, North Yorkshire - I offer both face to face and online therapy.

In modern society, we often suffer in silence through dark and difficult times - therapy offers a safe and entirely confidential space to explore those feelings, and find a new, clearer path forward.

My therapy focuses on developing a deepened understanding of the idealised self, and actual self - in other words, who we are expected to be, and who we truly want to be - and ultimately what we wish to get out of life.

Therapy can help reach a better self-understanding and awareness, to release feelings of shame, defensiveness and guilt.

Why go to Therapy?
Therapy can be beneficial for a variety of reasons. It can help cope with mental health issues such as anxiety or depression, and improve communication and relationships, manage stress and anger, and work through past traumas. Therapy provides a safe and non-judgemental space for personal growth and self-discovery.

Depression & Anxiety
Anxiety and depression is widespread, and can affect people of all backgrounds.

Identity, Confidence
& Self-Worth
Finding identity in therapy involves exploring one's values, beliefs, and experiences to gain a deeper understanding of oneself.

Bereavement
The loss of a loved one can trigger a multitude of emotions.

Addiction
Therapy helps individuals overcome addiction by teaching coping mechanisms and exploring underlying causes for long-term recovery.

Family & Relationship Challenges
Family challenges can arise from communication breakdown, financial issues, and conflicts in values and beliefs.

Guilt, Insecurity & Shame
Therapy can be uncomfortable when facing guilt, insecurity, and shame. But it's a safe space to explore these emotions, heal, and grow.
01.
Before we start our therapeutic journey together, we can have a phone call or exchange emails, where I can answer any questions or queries you may have around the service.
There is no obligation to proceed with the therapy.
02.
The first session can be a difficult one, rest assured this will be at your own pace, as I gently introduce myself and the therapy I provide.
03.
For some, a 6 week period of sessions is enough to reach a point of ending therapy - for others, additional ongoing therapy is required.

No matter your needs, short or long term, I will ensure that you receive the support you require.
